Are you a student or a professional who is keen to learn about computer networks? Are you fascinated by the world of computers and every other system that is responsible for the efficient operation of such a wonderful human invention?  When you deal with computers on a daily basis, you should be aware of the backbone which supports this incredible invention.    The truth is: Computers and technology rule the world today, and most of us are not aware of the network that is responsible for their efficient operation.  A computer network is the interconnection of various devices, responsible for sending or receiving media or data. These devices are known as hosts and are connected using a number of paths. There are also other network devices like, routers, hubs, bridges, and switches, which are responsible for the communication between two different devices.  The layout pattern which is used to interconnect the devices is known as the network topology like star, mesh, bus, ring, daisy chain, etc. Local Area Network or LAN is a data connection network which connects various computers or terminals within a building or a small geographical area. Again, WAN stands for Wide Area Network. It is a telecommunications network which expands through a wide geographical area.  DOWNLOAD: Computer Networking Beginners Guide: Ultimate Guide to Master Communication System Including Cisco and CCNA, Wireless and Cloud Technology, System Security Administration and IP Subnetting.  Computer networks consist of various components, protocols, and technologies working together. There should be a perfect guide that will help in learning the basics of how the network works and how the components fit together.    The goal of the book is simple: It is the perfect guide for the beginners to know everything about computer network, the devices and the terminologies associated with it, domains, packets frames and headers, ca 1. Long recognised as a classic in the USA, 'The Tower and the Bridge' is now at last available in German translation. In his preface to the German edition, Jörg Schlaich writes. 'This book is essential reading and a pleasure for the 'structural engineering artist', in whose structures the connection between form and force flow is visible and which are distinguished by the ideals of efficiency, cost-effectiveness and elegance.' Billington founded with this book structural art as a new, independent art form, which he considers equivalent to architecture. It is no coincidence that the title states the two classic domains of the structural engineer; in this case Billington is referring to two outstanding structures of the epoch, the Eiffel Tower and the Brooklyn Bridge. Billington describes in an easily readable style and in an entertaining manner the ideals, principles and methods of structural art during its historical development through examples of structures from outstanding engineers (e.g. Telford, Maillart, Freyssinet, Menn). With the establishment of structural art as an art form and the explication of its inherent principles, Billington gives the reader well founded arguments for the aesthetic discussion of engineering structures. This also provides a basis for criticism of the new art form; for the criticism of construction that has long been demanded. This timeless book thus has the potential to give a new impulse to the debate about construction culture and particularly the aesthetic aspects of structural engineering in German-speaking countries.

Fostering Task-Specific Self-Efficacy Expectanc...

Master's Thesis from the year 2012 in the subject Pedagogy - Pedagogic Psychology, grade: 1,0, University of Hannover (Pädagogische Psychologie), language: English, abstract: It is commonly known that one of the major factors for successful learning is the motivation to learn. The constant issue for teachers, therefore, is how they can motivate their students to want to learn. The primary motivation for any learning is interest in the subject. Since all humans are interested in different domains, it is unrealistic to expect school students to be interested in, on average, ten different subjects which they have to study according to school curricula. Consequently, teachers try to motivate their students extrinsically and it can safely be said that success is one of the major sources of extrinsic motivation. Generally, people like to do what they are good at. The opposite is also possible - the student is interested in the subject but lacks success and therefore becomes unmotivated. So, how can students succeed in subjects they are not overly inter¬ested in or maintain their interest despite failures? Researchers in the field of educational psychology have been trying to find an answer to this question and many more questions concerning motivation theory. During the last few decades, the concept of self-efficacy has emerged and has become more important in research on learning. Simplified, self-efficacy is the confidence for being able to cope with tasks. It is said to be closely related to academic performance and to influence motivation by making the learner feel self-confident or insecure. The connection between self-efficacy and achievement has been researched in a number of studies, which will be summarized and discussed in an empirical research chapter. The influence of self-efficacy on motivation, however, has only theoretically been argued for. The research trying to show a causal relation between these two concepts is generally criticized for not measuring motivation directly but by measuring performance, goal-setting or self-regulation and equating these concepts with motivation. Despite the problems that arise when research is trying to operationalize motivation (Gardner 2007), self-efficacy is said to have an influence on it and is regarded as one of the major concepts in learning theory.

Automorphic Forms on SL2 (R)
53,90 CHF *

This book provides an introduction to some aspects of the analytic theory of automorphic forms on G=SL2(R) or the upper-half plane X, with respect to a discrete subgroup G of G of finite covolume. The point of view is inspired by the theory of infinite dimensional unitary representations of G; this is introduced in the last sections, making this connection explicit. The topics treated include the construction of fundamental domains, the notion of automorphic form on GG and its relationship with the classical automorphic forms on X, Poincare series, constant terms, cusp forms, finite dimensionality of the space of automorphic forms of a given type, compactness of certain convolution operators, Eisenstein series, unitary representations of G, and the spectral decomposition of L2 (GG). The main prerequisites are some results in functional analysis (reviewed, with references) and some familiarity with the elementary theory of Lie groups and Lie algebras. Graduate students and researchers in analytic number theory will find much to interest them in this book.

Lacan and the Limits of Language

This book weaves together three themes at the intersection of Jacques Lacan and the philosophical tradition. The first is the question of time and memory. How do these problems call for a revision of LacanGCOs purported GCGBPahistoricism,GC and how does the temporality of the subject in Lacan intersect with the questions of temporality initiated by Heidegger and then developed by contemporary French philosophy? The second question concerns the status of the body in Lacanian theory, especially in connection with emotion and affect, which Lacanian theory is commonly thought to ignore, but which the concept of jouissance was developed to address. Finally, it aims to explore, beyond the strict limits of Lacanian theory, possible points of intersection between psychoanalysis and other domains, including questions of race, biology, and evolutionary theory.By stressing the question of affect, the book shows how LacanGs position cannot be reduced to the structuralist models he nevertheless draws upon, and thus how the problem of the body may be understood as a formation that marks the limits of language. Exploring the anthropological category of GraceG within a broadly evolutionary perspective, it shows how LacanGs elaboration of the GimaginaryG and the GsymbolicG might allow us to explain human physiological diversity without reducing it to a cultural or linguistic construction or allowing GraceG to remain as a traditional biological category. Here again the questions of history and temporality are paramount, and open the possibility for a genuine dialogue between psychoanalysis and biology. Finally, the book engages literary texts. Antigone, OvidGs Metamorphoses, Hamlet, and even Wordsworth become the muses who oblige psychoanalysis and philosophy to listen once again to the provocations of poetry, which always disrupts our familiar notions of time and memory, of history and bodily or affective experience, and of subjectivity itself.

A Comprehensive Treatment of q-Calculus

To date, the theoretical development of q-calculus has rested on a non-uniform basis. Generally, the bulky Gasper-Rahman notation was used, but the published works on q-calculus looked different depending on where and by whom they were written. This confusion of tongues not only complicated the theoretical development but also contributed to q-calculus remaining a neglected mathematical field. This book overcomes these problems by introducing a new and interesting notation for q-calculus based on logarithms. For instance, q-hypergeometric functions are now visually clear and easy to trace back to their hypergeometric parents. With this new notation it is also easy to see the connection between q-hypergeometric functions and the q-gamma function, something that until now has been overlooked. The book covers many topics on q-calculus, including special functions, combinatorics, and q-difference equations. Apart from a thorough review of the historical development of q-calculus, this book also presents the domains of modern physics for which q-calculus is applicable, such as particle physics and supersymmetry, to name just a few.¿
